Four years after the first edition of Organum Pannonicum, the second volume is also released with Hungarian organ transcriptions and organ works. This time it was recorded at the St. Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest, which venue has several affiliations with most of the featured composers.
First, you can hear the transcriptions. The 18th century Hungarian dances are followed by the Crusader’s march by Franz Liszt. The two central performances are the monumental Dance Suite by Béla Bartók and the Epigrams series by Zoltán Kodály. The original organ works are from István Koloss and Dezso d’Antalffy proceeded with the compositions of Erzsébet Szőnyi and Sándor Balatoni.
The recording was completed by Krisztián Horváth, the cover by Réka Keszthelyi. The release was supported by the Hungarian Cultural Fund and the St. Stephen’s Basilica, Budapest.
